The SEABOB F5 is the entry model of Cayago's F5 series: a 2.5 kW motor delivering 480 N of thrust, a surface speed of up to 14 km/h, and a diving depth that can be set from the default 2.5 m up to 40 m. It is the lightest machine in the family at about 29 kg.
One thing to know before anything else: the F5 series is discontinued. It no longer appears in Cayago's current price list, so today you'll find the F5 mainly as a used unit or as part of a rental fleet rather than new at a dealer.
Below are the official specifications, what the battery actually delivers, how deep it goes, why the series ended, and who the F5 still suits. If you want to know how it stacks up against the current model, read F5 vs F9.

The F5 in one paragraph
The F5 is the smallest and lightest of the F5 family, positioned as the affordable way into the SEABOB range. It has 4 power levels, a 1.1 kWh battery, and the same 40 m depth capability as its bigger siblings — but a more modest motor and top speed. That made it the natural choice for rental fleets and first-time riders, which is exactly where most surviving units live today.
Because it is no longer produced, the practical question is no longer \"which options should I order\" but \"what condition is this particular machine in\". The hulls age well; the battery and its service history are what you should focus on.

The official sheet does not quote a rated top speed; the figures above are the 'up to' values from the manufacturer's technical data.
Battery and real-world runtime
The F5 runs on a 48 V, 22 Ah battery with a 1.1 kWh capacity, good for an average operating time of about 50 minutes in normal riding. As with every SEABOB, aggressive use at the top power level shortens that figure, and cold water shortens it a little more.
Charging is the F5's clearest sign of its age. A full standard charge takes about 8 hours; the quick charger brings that down to roughly 1.5 hours. Compare that with a current F9, which charges in around 4 hours standard. For a rental fleet that turns a unit over daily, the F5's 8-hour charge is the reason a spare battery was almost mandatory.
Diving depth: 2.5 m by default, up to 40 m
Out of the box the F5's depth cut-off is set to 2.5 m, which is the safe default for casual riding. Through the settings menu it can be raised up to 40 m — the same maximum as the F5 S and F5 SR, and deeper than the current F9 (which tops out at 25 m).
Raising the limit is not a casual setting change. Diving beyond the default should only be done by divers with a valid licence or with a qualified instructor, and never alone. The motor cuts out if you exceed the set depth and restarts only above the limit — and the built-in depth sensor is a limit switch, not a calibrated dive gauge.
The practical point for most owners: 2.5 m is enough for the surface fun the F5 is built around, while the 40 m ceiling is a capability the machine shares with the rest of its family.
Why the F5 series was discontinued
Cayago's current price list covers the F9, F9 S and SE63 only. The F5 family has been removed, so new F5 units are no longer being produced or officially listed — what remains in dealers is old stock, and the bulk of surviving F5s now circulate on the used market and in rental fleets.
The last official F5 list we hold dates from July 2020, when the F5 was listed at 9,100.20 EUR gross in Germany. Treat that purely as a historical reference: it has no bearing on today's used or rental value, and we do not quote it as a current price.
Discontinuation does not mean abandonment. The F5 remains serviceable — parts, battery re-celling and repairs are all still available, and we service F5-series units regardless of where they were bought.
Who the F5 still suits
- Rental fleets — the F5 was the standard rental workhorse precisely because it is light (29 kg) and forgiving at 14 km/h, and it is still a common sight at Fethiye, Ölüdeniz, Göcek and Marmaris.
- First-time riders and lighter users — four simple power levels and the lowest top speed in the range make it the gentlest introduction to a SEABOB.
- Boat owners on a budget — a well-maintained used F5 is the cheapest route into genuine SEABOB ownership, provided the battery checks out.
- Families — at 14 km/h and with the highest buoyancy in the series (≈ 14 kg), it is the most relaxed machine in the family to pass around.
Who it is not for: anyone who wants the fastest, most capable unit. For more surface speed and thrust, look at the F5 S and F5 SR, or a current F9.
